Heavy rainfall during the ongoing monsoon season in Guatemala has resulted in the deaths of 32 people, with 16 others reported missing, according to the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (Conred). The downpour has led to damage in various sectors, including 30 schools, 242 roads, and 31 bridges, and poses a risk to 472 homes.
Additionally, 5,689 people have been left homeless, 10,303 evacuated, and 587 were provided with shelter due to the severe weather conditions. Recent incidents include the flooding of the Naranjo River in Guatemala City, resulting in at least three fatalities and 15 individuals still missing.
