Health Minister Rebuts Opposition’s Claims on Fomepizole Stock Availability
Health Minister Ma. Subramanian countered accusations by Opposition Leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, asserting that the Tamil Nadu government has transparently procured and stocked costly fomepizole injections from Mumbai. These injections, crucial for treating spurious liquor poisoning, are stored at facilities in Kallakurichi, Salem, and the TNMSC head office in Chennai.
The Minister clarified that no other state holds such stock, highlighting the proactive steps taken by the government. Palaniswami’s claims about a shortage, initially confused with omeprazole tablets, were addressed with evidence of sufficient stock. Subramanian accused the Opposition leader of spreading misinformation to incite public fear.
