Health Minister Veena George has mandated that healthcare staff, including doctors, must not take leave without proper authorization, emphasizing the negative impact on public health and clinical care. Addressing over 2,000 unauthorized absences, she warned of stringent action against non-compliance.
Urging a compassionate approach towards patients, she highlighted the importance of adhering to working hours and avoiding unnecessary referrals. Ms. George also stressed the implementation of the Public Health Act and the need for collaborative efforts in infectious disease prevention and control. Additional Chief Secretary Rajan Khobragade and Health Services Director KJ Reena supported her directives in an online meeting.
