Hamas Delegation to Egypt for Ceasefire Talks
Media reports reveal that a delegation from Hamas is set to visit Egypt to provide its feedback on Egypt’s proposed three-stage plan for a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict. The Egyptian plan involves implementing renewable ceasefires, a phased release of hostages held by Hamas in exchange for Palestinian prisoners in Israel, and culminating in an overarching ceasefire to bring an end to the hostilities.
Additionally, the plan envisions the formation of a Palestinian government consisting of technocrats, responsible for governance and reconstruction in post-crisis Gaza. The Hamas delegation is expected to convey observations from various Palestinian factions, outlining specific details on exchanges and seeking guarantees for a complete Israeli military withdrawal.
Diaa Rashwan, the head of Egypt’s State Information Services, emphasized that the plan aims to gather the perspectives of all concerned parties to halt the loss of Palestinian lives.
