GWMC Commissioner Urges Accelerated Tax Collections

Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation Commissioner has emphasized the urgency of accelerating tax collections to meet fiscal targets. Expressing dissatisfaction over the current collection status, which stands at only 60% of the annual target, Wakade warned officials of potential consequences if targets are not met. She instructed bill collectors to educate citizens about government incentives, particularly the 90% interest subsidy, to encourage settlement of outstanding arrears.

The Underlining the importance of a systematic approach, Wakade directed collectors to prioritize household and non-commercial tax collections in the morning, shifting focus to commercial collections later in the day, and prioritizing arrear collections in the afternoon. The review meeting, attended by additional commissioners, deputy commissioners, revenue officers, and inspectors, emphasized the need for a structured strategy to expedite tax collection efforts.
