The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has initiated a comprehensive campaign to combat the rise in cases of H1N1 influenza and dengue, with specific focus on zones like Adyar, Anna Nagar, Tiruvottiyur, Tondiarpet, Royapuram, Teynampet, Perungudi, and Sholinganallur. The Adyar zone has reported the highest number of dengue cases in the city this year.
Many other areas have also noted an increase in cases. The Corporation is actively spreading awareness about H1N1 prevention among residents and conducting screenings to identify and manage cases. Additionally, officials are cross-notifying cases to other districts and states to reduce the disease burden within their wards. Many Corporation employees and senior officials have begun screening for vector-borne diseases and H1N1 influenza in the city.
