Greater Chennai Corporation Halts Road Cuts Until January to Expedite Roadwork
The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has decided to halt any further road cuts until January to expedite ongoing roadwork and address recurrent complaints about road quality. This decision follows recent instructions from Chief Minister M.K Stalin to accelerate roadwork and ensure its quality. The GCC is also aiming to complete ongoing road projects by the end of October.
An interdepartmental meeting was held with the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewage Board (CMWSSB), Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (Tangedco), and other departments to discuss various issues related to roadwork and infrastructure. The GCC is closely monitoring complaints from residents, responding within 24 hours through the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) and social media platforms. It plans to complete 10 additional bus routes and 270 interior road works by October.
