Greater Chennai Corporation Embraces Advertising on Street Light Poles

In a bid to boost revenue, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has passed a resolution allowing advertisements on street light poles across the city. The decision was made during a general meeting, with the Council emphasizing the need to explore Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising opportunities. Detailed Feasibility and Project Reports are now set to be prepared for advertising rights on streetlight poles in various areas within the GCC limits.

The proposal includes four packages, with the pilot project slated for Zones VII, VIII, and X. The maximum size and specifications for the display panels have been outlined, ensuring compliance with safety standards. With an anticipated revenue of ₹94.6 crore and a focus on maximizing existing assets, the GCC aims to tap into this new advertising avenue for sustainable financial growth.
