Government to Investigate Land Allotments and Introduce Strict Anti-Grabbing Law
Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad announced a comprehensive investigation into questionable land allotments made between 2019 and 2024, revealing plans to reclaim lands granted through dubious methods. The government will introduce a new, stringent Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act aimed at tackling illegal land transfers and reclaiming assigned and dotted lands.
Special Chief Secretary R.P. Sisodia will tour districts to review and rectify land records, following significant concerns over fraudulent practices and grievances related to land allotments. The government is also addressing the Madanapalle Sub-Collector office fire, suspected to be a deliberate act to destroy incriminating records. The review meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu highlighted the need for transparency and accountability, particularly in light of substantial expenditure on land survey markers.
