Government Develops Indigenous Explosive Detectors for Security Forces
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced the development of two categories of indigenous explosive detectors for security forces, accomplished through collaboration between Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), Department of Atomic Energy, and Defence Research and Development Organisation.
These detectors, based on Ion Mobility Spectrometry and Raman Back Scattering principles, were recently handed over to the Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) for deployment. Representatives from various security agencies including SPG, NSG, CISF, ITBP, SSB, BCAS, SFF, and the Indian Army attended the handover ceremony. The detectors will be field-deployed by 12 identified security agencies, with user feedback solicited for further enhancements.
