Residents of Bhoma village in North Goa have written to President Droupadi Murmu seeking intervention to prevent the destruction of their village, which houses three temples, due to the proposed expansion of National Highway 4A. Supported by various opposition parties in Goa, hundreds of villagers have been protesting the expansion, stating that it would result in the demolition of houses and temples.
The villagers have urged the Public Works Department to consider alternatives such as constructing a bypass to protect their village’s cultural and religious heritage. The residents have sought intervention from the President, Prime Minister, and Union Minister for Highways to preserve their traditions and temples.
