Yuri Alemao, the Leader of the Opposition in Goa, has commended Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for taking proactive measures to combat liquor smuggling from Goa to Karnataka. Alemao believes that Siddaramaiah’s decision will prevent revenue loss for Goa. He has urged Goa’s Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, to respond to Siddaramaiah’s efforts and take measures to halt liquor smuggling from Goa into Karnataka.
Alemao accused Sawant’s government of turning a blind eye to illegal liquor transportation to Karnataka during the BJP’s previous rule in Goa, suggesting collusion between the government and criminals. He expressed concern about the border’s fragility and a lack of monitoring by authorities, citing incidents like the transportation of a dead body across the border in tinted vehicles, leaving officials clueless.
