Goa Chief Minister Vows Strict Action Against Misbehaving IPS Officer
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has promised decisive action against a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer accused of misbehaving with a female partygoer at a nightclub in Baga-Calangute. The alleged incident occurred on Monday night, and Goa Forward Party MLA Vijai Sardesai raised the matter in the Assembly, urging action against the officer and suggesting suspension.
Responding to Sardesai, Chief Minister Sawant assured that stringent measures would be taken, emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach towards such incidents. Sources indicated that the female, along with friends, confronted the officer after his alleged misconduct. The Goa police have initiated an internal inquiry to establish the facts before determining further actions.
