Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to Study Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Online Gambling Act to Tackle Illegal Activities
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured the Legislative Assembly that his government will study the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Online Gambling Act as a measure to curb illegal activities related to online gaming in the coastal state. The issue of illegal online gaming and (mini) casino activities in Goa was raised by Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao during the ongoing Legislative Assembly session.
Alemao expressed concern over the negative impact of online gaming on the youth, citing instances of suicides among those who incurred heavy losses. He urged for a crackdown on illegal online gaming, which he stated was prevalent in every constituency of the state, except the Canacona constituency represented by Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar.
The Opposition leader called for the government to seek advice from the Speaker on how to combat these illegal activities.
