German Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius announced a new military support package for Ukraine worth 1.3 billion euros. The package includes four additional IRIS-T SLM systems, 155mm shells, and anti-tank mines. Germany plans to provide a total of 160,000 rounds of ammunition to Ukraine in 2024-2025 and pledged support for Kiev’s air defense capabilities.
The announcement comes as part of ongoing efforts by Germany to assist Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression. Since Russia initiated its war against Ukraine in February 2022, Germany has provided over 17 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine, making it the second-largest contributor of defense support after the United States.
Pistorius made the announcement during a joint press conference with Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, expressing Germany’s commitment to supporting Ukraine both militarily and diplomatically.
