Gang Rape Uncovered During Dacoity Investigation in Karnataka
Police in Karnataka’s Belagavi district have uncovered a case of gang rape while investigating a dacoity incident that led to the arrest of five men. The accused confessed to the gang rape during their interrogation, prompting the police to locate the victim and initiate an investigation based on her complaint. The accused were identified as Ramesh Khilari, Durgappa Vaddar, Yallappa Gisnigavvagol, Krishna Pujari, and Ramasidda Tapsi, and authorities are now searching for the main accused, Basavaraja Khilari, who was known to the victim.
The gang rape occurred on September 5 in the Gokak police station’s jurisdiction when the victim had come to Gokak town from her village. She was lured to the house of the accused, where she was gang-raped, and the perpetrators also robbed her companion. The accused threatened to release a video of the victim and her companion if they reported the incident, causing the victim to initially refrain from filing a complaint.
