Gandhis Must Apologise for Contempt of Court in National Herald Case, Says Tamil Nadu BJP

The Tamil Nadu unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has said that Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi must apologise for showing contempt towards the court in the ongoing National Herald case. The party accused the Gandhis of trying to mislead the public and disrespect the legal system.

Tamil Nadu BJP leaders claimed that some recent statements made by Congress leaders about the case were inappropriate and aimed at attacking the judiciary. They said the Gandhis should show respect for the court’s process and stop making political remarks about the case while it is still being heard.

“The court is handling the National Herald case fairly. But the way the Congress leaders, especially the Gandhis, are talking about it is wrong. They must apologise for showing contempt for the court,” a senior BJP leader from Tamil Nadu said in a press statement.

The National Herald case involves allegations of financial irregularities linked to a company owned by Congress leaders. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been investigating the matter, and both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have appeared for questioning in the past. Congress, however, says the case is politically motivated and meant to target its top leaders.

Despite Congress calling it a case of “vendetta politics,” the BJP insists that the law should take its course. Tamil Nadu BJP leaders added that no one is above the law and that leaders, no matter how senior, should not speak in a way that questions the court’s integrity.

They also urged the Congress party to let the courts decide the outcome instead of creating confusion among the public through political speeches and media statements.

As the case continues, political tensions between the BJP and Congress are rising. The demand for an apology from the Gandhis has added another layer to the already heated debate over the National Herald case.
