Karnataka’s Forest Minister, Eshwar Khandre, inaugurated ‘Gaja Payana,’ the grand march of elephants from jungle camps to the Mysuru palace, marking the beginning of the celebrated Dasara festival. This festival, known as the festival of the land, is celebrated with great pomp by the state government and attracts visitors from across the country and abroad.
The event, held at Veeranahosalli in Nagarahole National Park, saw the first batch of nine elephants begin their journey, including Abhimanyu, who will carry the golden howdah in the famous procession. The elephants will receive a traditional welcome at the Mysuru Palace on September 4.
