“Fulton Looks to Build Strong Core Group After Hockey Nationals, Says Team Has Good Depth”

Indian men’s hockey coach Craig Fulton has shared his plans to build a strong and reliable core group of players after watching the performances at the recent Hockey Nationals. He said the tournament showed that India has good depth in talent and many players are ready to compete at the top level.

Fulton and his coaching staff closely watched players from different states during the Hockey India Senior Nationals. He praised the players for their skill, fitness, and game sense. He also pointed out that the competition helped him spot young players who can grow into future stars for the national team.

Fulton said he wants to select a group of players who can train together regularly and form the core of the national squad. He believes that building team chemistry and consistency is key to winning important tournaments like the Asian Games, Olympics, and World Cup.

“We saw some very promising performances during the Nationals,” Fulton said. “Now, we will bring the best players together and start building a strong unit. The aim is to improve teamwork and give players enough international exposure.”

The coach also mentioned that India’s strength lies in its wide pool of talent. He praised the work done by state associations and local coaches in developing players from the grassroots level. He said the national team will benefit if this talent is guided properly and given the right training.

Fulton and his team plan to call selected players to the national camp soon. There, they will focus on improving fitness, ball control, passing, and strategy. He also plans to involve experienced players to guide the younger ones and help them adjust to the pressure of international hockey.

With upcoming tournaments on the horizon, Fulton wants to use this time to shape a balanced team with the right mix of youth and experience. His goal is to make India a strong and consistent force in world hockey.
