Frequent reports about crimes in ladies’ coaches cannot be prevented due to lack of personnel, says RPF

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has highlighted the lack of personnel to prevent crimes in ladies’ coaches following a surge in reported incidents in EMU/MEMU trains within the Chennai Division. To address this concern, the RPF has made a request to the Electrical Branch of the Southern Railway.

They have proposed shifting all the ladies’ coaches, currently attached at the front or rear of the EMU/MEMU trains, to the middle. This repositioning aims to enhance the security and safety of women passengers during their train journeys.

By relocating the ladies’ coaches, authorities hope to improve the vigilance and surveillance measures taken to prevent crimes against women. The decision has been prompted by the need to address the growing concerns regarding the safety of female passengers and ensure their well-being while commuting.
