Four Men Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Murder of UP Police Constable in 2007 Encounter
The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Suresh Kumar Gupta, has handed down life imprisonment to four men found guilty of murdering UP police constable Parmendra Singh during an encounter in the Fatehganj West area of Bareilly in 2007. One of the five accused passed away during the trial. The court also levied fines totaling Rs 2,70,000 on all the convicts and ordered that half the penalty be awarded to the family of the deceased constable.
According to Additional District Government Counsel Digambar Patel, the incident occurred on January 19, 2007, when police received information about robbers’ presence in the Nakhasa Bagh area during midnight hours. Constable Parmendra Kumar, along with Nirdosh Kumar and Pramod Kumar, responded to the call, but the armed robbers fired at them. Despite the arrival of backup, Parmendra Kumar succumbed to a gunshot wound in the hospital.
The five robbers — Ibrahim Khan, Akeel Raza, Guddu, Akeena, and Inna Nabi — were apprehended and charged under various sections of the IPC, later receiving bail.
