Former Union Minister Birender Singh and Wife Join Congress
Former Union Minister Birender Singh, along with his ex-MLA wife Prem Lata, made a significant move by joining the Congress on April 9 in Delhi, marking their departure from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Their decision to join the Congress comes just a month after their son Brijendra Singh also switched parties, leaving the BJP.
Birender Singh, who previously served as the Union Steel Minister in the Modi government, expressed his return to the Congress as not only a ‘ghar wapsi’ (homecoming) but also a ‘vichar wapsi’ (return of ideology). The move is seen as a boost for the Congress in Haryana, with party leaders expressing confidence in strengthening the party’s presence in the state. The event witnessed the presence of prominent Congress leaders, signifying the significance of the occasion for the party’s prospects in the region.
