In a recent development, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested Jayashree, a former employee of a private bank, on charges of cheating an elderly woman. The complainant, Poornima Neethu, and her 66-year-old mother, Santhakumari, from Korattur, had been introduced to Jayashree, who claimed to be involved in a trading company in Choolaimedu along with her family.
Jayashree persuaded Santhakumari to invest a substantial amount, totaling ₹2.65 crore, in their business with promises of high monthly profits. However, Jayashree only returned ₹64 lakh as profit and failed to refund the invested amount. Acting on the complaint, the police arrested Jayashree, 39, of Choolaimedu, on charges of financial deception.
