During the cremation of a body in Kongarahalli village, Chamarajanagar district, Karnataka, a swarm of forest bees attacked mourners, resulting in one person’s death and 14 others being admitted to a hospital. The deceased was identified as 60-year-old Chennappa, a resident of the village, while one of the injured individuals remained in critical condition.
The incident occurred late in the evening during the funeral of a woman, as the bees attacked the gathered mourners when the funeral pyre was lit. The presence of a beehive near the cremation site is believed to have triggered the attack, causing panic among the people present. Chennappa sustained severe injuries during the incident and tragically passed away while being transported to the hospital.
