Flooding Ravages Kottody Town in Kasaragod, Kerala
Following intense rainfall, Kottody town in Kallar panchayat, Kasaragod district, Kerala, faced severe flooding on June 27. The Kottody river and nearby canals overflowed, posing a threat of water entering shops, prompting traders to relocate their goods to safer locations. District Collector K. Inbasekar declared a holiday for local schools and madrasas due to the flood situation.
Additionally, power outages in hilly areas compounded the challenges faced by residents. Across Kasaragod, rising water levels in rivers like Vavadukkam, Madhur, and Madhuvahini have prompted emergency evacuations and heightened flood management measures.
