Five Terrorists Killed in Ongoing Operation in J&K’s Kathua

In a significant development in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, five terrorists have been killed in an ongoing anti-terrorist operation in the Ghati Heights of Sufiyan Jakhole village.

The operation, which began with a gunfight after locals reported terrorist movement on Thursday morning, has also resulted in the martyrdom of three J&K Police personnel, including Special Operations Group (SOG) members. Seven other security forces, including a Deputy SP and a para commando, have sustained injuries.

The terrorists, believed to be from the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) group, were heavily armed with M4 carbines and grenades. The gunfight involved intense explosions and heavy firing, with army reinforcements, including para commandos, joining the operation. The bodies of the terrorists have been located, and the operation is ongoing. Local youth have assisted security forces with transporting heavy weaponry during the encounter.

The police have confirmed that the terrorists were likely trying to infiltrate from Sanyal village before being engaged in the operation.
