Fishing Boat Catches Fire in Mid-Sea: Six Fishermen Injured in Tamil Nadu

A fishing boat in mid-sea off the coast of Pazhayar, several nautical miles from Mayiladuthurai district in Tamil Nadu, caught fire late Thursday night, resulting in six fishermen sustaining burn injuries. The injured individuals, hailing from Thirumullaivasal, were identified as M. Parthiban, U. Dharamraj, G. Moorthy, P. Chithiravel, A. Jeevanandham, and K. Maniyarasan.

The mishap occurred after the boat’s engine malfunctioned and ignited. The distressed fishermen jumped into the sea, where they were rescued by a nearby fishing boat. The injured were subsequently admitted to a hospital for treatment. The fishing boat, along with the affected individuals, was towed to the shoreline.
