Fire Breaks Out in Newly-Built Nine-Storey Building in Velachery
A fire broke out in a recently constructed nine-story building in Velachery, Chennai. While over 100 individuals were evacuated from the building safely, two staff members who were stranded on one of the top floors had to be rescued and were subsequently admitted to a hospital. Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit may have triggered the fire.
The building, intended for use as a hotel, is located near Chennai Silks. Firefighters and police officers, along with personnel from the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services, worked to control the blaze. The incident disrupted traffic on Velachery-Tambaram High Road, but fortunately, there were no reported injuries among the building’s occupants.
