An FIR has been filed against Ranganath, son of Karnataka BJP MP Devendrappa, for alleged sexual exploitation of a woman. The Basavanagudi Women’s Police Station in Bengaluru registered the FIR, charging Ranganath, a lecturer at Maharaja’s College in Mysuru, under Sections 420, 417 (cheating), and 506 (criminal intimidation).
In response, Ranganath filed a counter complaint at Vijayanagara police station, accusing the victim of blackmailing him with private photos and videos for Rs 15 lakh. Notices have been issued to both parties, instructing them to present documents and evidence.
The police reported that the accused had developed physical intimacy with the victim after meeting her at a party a year ago, promising marriage but later distancing himself. Vijayanagara police in Mysuru are investigating the counter-complaint.
