The Karnataka police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the Sanjeevini hospital for allegedly administering an expired injection to a three-year-old child. The incident took place when the child, suffering from high fever, was taken to the hospital on October 29. After the injection was given via a glucose drip, the child’s lips swelled, and bleeding started.
It was later discovered that the administered injection had expired. In response, the parents immediately transferred the child to another hospital and lodged a complaint with the Mahalaxmi Police station. The hospital’s management has issued an apology for the incident, and the involved staff members have been suspended. This case highlights the critical need for stringent quality control and patient safety measures in healthcare facilities.
