A tragic fire broke out in a five-storey residential building in Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar, claiming the life of a 55-year-old woman. The blaze originated in vehicles parked on the ground floor of the building, leading to a dramatic rescue operation. Five individuals resorted to jumping from upper floors in panic, while 26 others were successfully rescued by the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) personnel.
The fire department received the initial call at 1:03 a.m., dispatching a total of eight fire tenders to the scene. Despite efforts to extinguish the flames, one woman lost her life, and several others sustained injuries. Investigations point to a short circuit in the parking area as the possible cause of the fire. An inquiry is underway to determine the full extent of the incident.
