Farmers in Purappemane Receive Clearance to Capture Troublesome Monkeys
Residents of Purappemane in Sagar taluk have obtained permission from the Forest Department to capture monkeys causing havoc in the village. Frustrated with the monkeys damaging crops and entering households, farmers in the region sought assistance. A team of monkey-catchers, equipped with cages and tools, has arrived in the village to begin the operation.
The residents, facing substantial losses in areca, coconut, paddy, and vegetable cultivation, expressed relief at the Forest Department’s approval. The team plans to use various tactics, including enticing the monkeys with food, during the weeks-long operation. The villagers have contributed funds for the capture, highlighting the collaborative effort to address the monkey menace.
