External Affairs Minister Jaishankar’s Visit to Kathmandu for Nepal-India Joint Commission Meeting
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is set to visit Kathmandu for the seventh meeting of the Nepal-India Joint Commission. Co-chairing the meeting with his Nepalese counterpart N.P. Saud, Jaishankar’s one-day visit will address over three dozen agendas, covering areas from border and trade to economic cooperation and connectivity.
The meeting aims to review the overall state of bilateral relations and discuss agreements, including long-term energy cooperation and an increase in funds for small development projects.
The visit also involves inaugurating three transmission lines connecting with Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The 10,000-megawatt power trade agreement is scheduled for signing during the trip, and Jaishankar will pay courtesy calls on President Ramchandra Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
