During the State visit of Oman Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik to India, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met him in Delhi on December 15. Expressing honor to call on Sultan Haitham, Jaishankar highlighted the value of the Sultan’s guidance for deepening the strategic partnership between India and Oman. Sultan Haitham’s visit, his first State visit to India, marks a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between the two nations.
The visit aims to reinforce the longstanding friendship, cooperation, and bilateral ties between India and Oman. During his visit, Sultan Haitham will receive a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan, meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, visit the National Gallery of Modern Art, and engage in discussions to explore avenues for future collaboration.
India and Oman share strong historical, cultural, and economic ties, with Oman being India’s closest defence partner in the Gulf region. Defense cooperation has become a key pillar of their strategic partnership, and the visit is seen as an opportunity to strengthen regional stability, progress, and prosperity.
