Extension of FCRA Registration Provides Relief to NGOs Amidst Renewal Process
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has extended the validity of Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) registration for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and associations until June 30, providing much-needed relief to entities facing renewal since September 29, 2020. This extension, granted for the ninth time since 2020, acknowledges the delays in processing applications within the stipulated timeframe.
The order ensures that NGOs awaiting renewal decisions or facing pending applications can continue operations until June 30 or until their renewal application is processed, whichever comes earlier. This move aims to mitigate disruptions in foreign funding and operations for FCRA-registered entities, ensuring continuity in their social and developmental endeavors.
