A tragic explosion at a petrol pump in Russia’s Dagestan region has resulted in the death of at least 27 people, including three children, and left 127 others injured. The incident occurred in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, where a fire broke out at an auto repair shop on Monday night and subsequently led to explosions that spread to a nearby petrol pump.
Search and rescue efforts are ongoing, with teams employing search-and-rescue dogs to locate potential survivors in the rubble. Additionally, an Il-76 aircraft from the Emergencies Ministry has been dispatched to transport the injured to hospitals.
Sergey Mekilov, the head of the Dagestan region, confirmed the fatalities and injuries while noting that efforts to manage the aftermath are continuing.
