Experts Collaborate to Create Bird Atlas of Papikonda Hill Range
In a joint effort between the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department and the Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research (IISER-Tirupati), 60 experts have embarked on a three-day expedition to prepare a bird atlas of Papikonda National Park and its surrounding hill range. Led by ornithologists, birdwatchers, and wildlife experts, the team aims to document nearly 300 bird species thriving in the region.
Species like the Green Munia, Buff Chested Babbler, Grey Treepie, and Abbott’s Babbler are among the notable inhabitants of the Maredumilli hill range. The collaboration with the E-bird network enhances data collection efforts, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the area’s avian diversity.
