In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha election in Chennai, the process of configuring electronic voting machines (EVMs) has commenced. Over three days, officials and representatives of candidates will oversee the fixation of candidates’ names and symbols on the ballot units. A total of 11,843 EVMs, 4,469 control devices, and 4,842 voter verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) units, including reserves, will be deployed across the district’s three Parliamentary constituencies.
Additionally, voter information slips have already been distributed to approximately 16.7 lakh voters, while micro-inspectors and police personnel are assigned to 769 polling stations for election duty.
