Evacuation of Critical Cases from Gaza to Egypt Amid Ongoing Crisis
The Ministry of Health in Gaza has released the names of 19 individuals, including a two-week-old infant and cancer patients, set to be evacuated to Egypt through the Rafah border crossing on Tuesday for urgent medical treatment. The patients, some with deep injuries, are part of a larger group of over 5,300 individuals facing serious and complex medical conditions in Gaza, as emphasized by the Ministry in late December 2023.
Despite the ongoing conflict, the UN reported that the number of evacuated cases represented only 1% of the total reported injuries in the Hamas-controlled enclave since the October 7 assault. The toll of the war is devastating, with at least 21,672 Palestinians killed and 56,165 injured in Gaza. Women and children account for about 70% of the fatalities, while Israel reported over 1,200 fatalities, including foreign nationals and 36 children, with the majority occurring on October 7.
