European Court of Justice Imposes Record 200 Million Euro Fine on Hungary
The European Court of Justice has levied a historic fine of 200 million euros against Hungary for its persistent failure to adhere to EU asylum regulations. This decision follows a December 2020 ruling where Hungary was found to have disregarded European Union policies concerning the granting of international protection and the management of illegal migrants.
The Court’s statement emphasized Hungary’s deliberate avoidance of implementing EU policies, characterizing it as a severe and unprecedented breach of EU law.
