Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Chennai district has formed 144 teams dedicated to real-time surveillance, comprising various officials trained by the Election Commission of India (EC). The training session, attended by 496 district election office officials, emphasized the utilization of new applications developed by the EC for effective monitoring during the electoral process.
These teams, including flying squads, static surveillance teams, and video surveillance teams, will utilize innovative apps to report any instances of seized money or items promptly. Additionally, measures are in place to monitor individuals carrying cash exceeding certain thresholds, with data shared instantly with relevant authorities through the ESMS app. The incorporation of 360-degree cameras in all surveillance vehicles further strengthens the district’s surveillance capabilities, ensuring a smooth and transparent electoral process.
