Enforcement Directorate Conducts Fresh Searches in Bihar Sand-Mining Case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated fresh searches in Bihar, focusing on Arrah town in Bhojpur district, as part of an ongoing investigation into a money-laundering case linked to alleged illegal sand mining in the state. The searches target the premises of a businessman and several associated individuals, expanding the scope of the probe.
Last week, Subhash Yadav, allegedly affiliated with the Rashtriya Janata Dal, was arrested in connection with the case, underscoring the political implications of the investigation. The case originates from multiple FIRs filed against Broadsons Commodities Private Limited (BCPL) and its directors for purportedly engaging in illicit sand mining and sales without proper documentation.
With key figures, including Bihar MLC Radha Charan Sah and his son Kanhaiya Prasad, already under arrest, the ED is intensifying efforts to unravel the syndicate behind the alleged illegal sand trade, which is believed to have generated significant proceeds of crime.
