The value of seizures related to the elections in Telangana has surpassed ₹191 crore as of May 13. The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into force on March 16, initiating the seizure process, which continued even after polling concluded on Monday.
According to the Telangana DGP Ravi Gupta, the MCC will remain in force until June 6 or until the Election Commission of India (ECI) declares the election results. The seizures include cash amounting to ₹98.82 crore, liquor worth ₹10.81 crore, drugs valued at ₹7.11 crore, precious metals such as gold and silver totaling ₹62.77 crore, and freebies worth ₹11.65 crore.
