Elderly Man Arrested for Cheating Woman with Fake Flight Ticket

The East Zone cyber crime unit of the city police apprehended a 69-year-old man for allegedly duping a 58-year-old woman with a fake flight ticket. The victim, R. Krishnaveni of Royapettah, sought the services of Jegannathan, a travel agent, to purchase a ticket for her journey to the United States.

Last July, she transferred ₹1.29 lakh to Jegannathan’s account as payment for the ticket, only to realize later that the ticket was fraudulent. Krishnaveni reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of Dindigul Logasubramaniam Jaganathan from Thandalam in Tiruvallur district. The police’s cybercrime unit analyzed Jegannathan’s phone number, bank account, and email address to gather evidence for the arrest.
