Eight refugees reached Tamil Nadu’s Dhanushkodi
Eight refugees, including five children, arrived at Tamil Nadu’s Dhanushkodi from Sri Lanka on Saturday. The refugees, originally from Jaffna, were taken into custody by the Dhanushkodi coastal police and subsequently transferred to refugee rehabilitation camps.
Their arrival brings the total number of refugees who have reached Indian shores during Sri Lanka’s economic crisis to 265. It is worth noting that some individuals have resorted to illegal means, paying significant sums to unauthorized ferry agents, who drop them off near the Dhanushkodi coast.
The situation highlights the ongoing challenges faced by refugees and the need for appropriate support and measures to address their plight.
