Egmore Yard Culvert Completion Enhances Monsoon Preparedness

Southern Railway has successfully finished constructing a new culvert at Egmore Yard, addressing long-standing issues of water stagnation. This essential infrastructure project, involving the installation of twin-box culverts and extensive use of heavy machinery, was carried out over a single day with the cancellation of suburban train services to minimize disruption.

The initiative, supported by over 400 workers, aims to ensure uninterrupted train operations during the monsoon season and alleviate water-logging issues in the area. Additional upgrades, including the dismantling of foot over bridges and signal enhancements, were also completed concurrently.
