Efforts to Enhance Aadhaar Capture in Civil Registration System
The Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine has directed all District Collectors to ensure the collection of Aadhaar details during the registration of births and deaths under the Civil Registration System (CRS). Stressing the importance of Aadhaar numbers for implementing government welfare schemes and ensuring data purity, the Chief Registrar of Births and Deaths emphasized the need for improved Aadhaar coverage.
District-wise Aadhaar data collection statistics were shared to aid in identifying low-performing departments and enhancing coverage. The directive also urged departments to avoid entering invalid Aadhaar numbers to facilitate seamless integration with welfare scheme databases. Despite progress, there remains room for improvement, with Chennai registering lower Aadhaar coverage percentages compared to the state average.
