Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Chennai District Election Office has initiated a campaign to bolster voter turnout, particularly in North Chennai. With 4.1 lakh residents pledging to participate, systematic voters’ education programmes (SVEEP) have been launched to encourage urban voter engagement.
Previous elections have seen varying turnout rates across Chennai constituencies, with efforts now focused on addressing the 40% of voters who abstain from voting. Additionally, extensive training for election duty personnel and the appointment of micro-observers aim to ensure smooth conduct of the electoral process.
