The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a second petition at the Calcutta High Court, urging the rejection of an FIR against its officials who were attacked during a raid on Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan’s residence in Sandeshkhali. The ED counsel appealed for a fast-track hearing in the case. This follows a similar petition filed on Wednesday, challenging the police FIR against the attacked ED officials.
The matter came up for a brief hearing, and Justice Jay Sengupta verbally directed the state police not to take any action against ED officials until January 15. The ED accuses West Bengal Police of diluting the seriousness of the charges in the FIR related to the attack.
