ED Conducts Raids in West Bengal in Connection with Job Scam Case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated marathon and simultaneous raid and search operations at three locations in West Bengal, targeting residences of prominent figures including State Minister Sujit Bose, Trinamool Congress legislator Tapas Roy, and North Dum Dum Municipality councilor Subodh Chakraborty.
The raids are part of the ongoing investigation into the cash-for-municipalities job case in the state. In light of the previous attack on ED and CAPF personnel during a similar operation in Sandeshkhali, the security forces accompanying the ED teams took special precautions, including wearing metal helmets and carrying cane shields.
The raids come shortly after the Calcutta High Court’s interim stay on investigations against ED officials based on an FIR filed regarding the January 5 attack.
